 26th October 2008

The schedules for these two outings are given below.

Kondana Caves

This is more a fun outing than a heavy duty hike as such - a celebration of being out of the city and enjoying natural beauty around us.

This is also not so much a roughing out experience, though please don't expect chairs to sit on in the cave and all. The food will be a buffet with ample options (not really the standard maggie and biscuit fare of treks). The rain dance is also another not really roughing it option.

We see this outing as a meeting of a "citified facilities" with a charming hike.

We will arrive at Prakruti Farm at 08:30am for Breakfast and move for Kondana Caves by 09:30am. The hike is easy and takes about an hour or so. We spend some time at the caves and return to Prakruti Farm for lunch by about 01:00pm. We have time for rest after lunch, or you can enjoy the rain dance.

We have tea and snacks around 03:30pm and head off back to Mumbai by 04:30pm. These times are flexible, and we can always stretch what we like and leave out something if we don't want it.

Lohagad Fort

This one is rustic. The difficulty is moderate and please be prepared to walk solidly for a couple of hours each way.

The charm of this one is the experience of walking in the heart of the Sahyadri, the views and the rural food. While we will be eating in a local "shop", please note that this will be village food - "zunka bhakri" types. Authentic food of the land.

The pick up schedule is similar to that for the Kondana outing, and we reach the base of the fort for breakfast at 08:30am and start the hike up to the fort by 09:30am. We reach up, have some tea and biscuits, explore the fort and come back to the shop near the fort for lunch and some lazing and soaking in the local atmosphere.

We start walking back by 03:00pm, reach the base by 04:00pm and head back to Mumbai after tea.

If you are interested in joining us, please contact uscontact us and let us know which one or both of the hikes you are interested in, and we can take things ahead.
