This three day residential programme with Roger Greenaway will enable you to:
- Refresh and sharpen your facilitation skills
- Revisit the fundamentals of facilitating learning and development
- Develop your skills in facilitating discussions arising from experiential activities.
- Extend your training tool kit with reviewing methods that motivate participants
- Learn to match reviewing methods to activities and to stages in a programme
- Develop strategies and techniques that will increase the transfer of learning
The skills and methods you will explore in this programme are suitable for:
- facilitating a range of programmes: personal development, team building, leadership training, management development.
- working with a wide age range: youth and adult
- learning from any activities: outdoor, challenge, group, problem-solving, creative, simulation and work activities
About the presenter: Roger began working in Outdoor Management Development in 1981. He received a doctorate in 1995 for a study of the experiences of managers during such programmes. Roger also has an extensive background in working with disadvantaged youth and in training others to do so in his 4 years with Save the Children. Roger now provides reviewing skills training to a wide range of clients in the UK and around the world. Their testimonials are published on Roger’s website - providing evidence of transfer at many levels. You will discover that Roger practises what he preaches - using experience-based training methods to learn about experience-based training.
Resources: The programme will be supported by a course manual and by relevant extracts from Roger’s books and articles. Both as preparation and follow-up you are recommended to browse Roger’s highly acclaimed ‘Guide to Active Reviewing’ at: http://reviewing.co.uk
Content will include: tools for starting a programme; tools for developing communication skills; tools focusing on learning objectives; tools related to popular training activities; tools for personal feedback; tools for reviewing issues in the workplace. How to design a debriefing strategy for a whole programme. Maximising the transfer of learning. Practical transfer strategies based on the work of leading writers on this topic. Naturally, you will also be encouraged to apply these strategies to the transfer of your own learning.
