A general set of instructions for those indulging in our celebrations of the monsoons. Please use common sense in applying them as needed, and expanding on them where needed, or contact us for clarifications.
This is monsoon hiking - please be aware that rains and getting wet are involved, and make all preparations and packing accordingly.
Carry 2 sets of spare clothing, inners, socks (if you use them), towel, etc (everything you expect to use after getting dry after being drenched)Pack all these and anything else you carry in plastic bags, and carry all your belongings in a backpack.
Comfortable plastic/rubber 'rainy shoes' or even gum boots work better on these trips than expensive sports shoes or leather footwear. Sturdy floaters/sandals can work too, but please make sure that they are strong enough to withstand any walking in sticky mud that you may wish to indulge in.
Please do carry rain protection as in a waterproof jacket/raincoat. Umbrellas may seem fancy, but are not very useful when its windy and rainy, and slippery and you want to keep your hands free.
Wrap wallets, credit cards, mobile phones, etc in plastic securely, or better still, leave everything except a little emergency money at home. There is no mobile network or credit card facilities in most of these places in any case.
Among your clothes include thickish fullsleeved and full legged clothing that can keep you a little on the warm side.Jeans are a BAD idea. They rub your skin and get extremely uncomfortable if you get wet in them.
For overnight hikes, do carry a thick chaddar or so with you.Do not bring any light coloured clothing that you would like to use in presentable circumstances (the red colour of the Sahyadri mud is hard to get rid of)
Old comfortable clothing is the key.We recommend thick full sleeved T-shirts, soft cotton track bottoms, jackets (without the cotton lining that takes time to dry).
PACK EVERYTHING IN WATERPROOF BAGS or don't come crying to us

Bring cameras if you want at your own risk, but protect them well from the wet! |

Watch out for the fellow who talks about putting things in order! Putting things in order always means getting other people under your control.
