Horseback journeys

Horses and travellers are well equated in the mountain regions. When you are on a horse, you cease to be a 'tourist' you are now of the land a 'musafir' or a nomadic traveller to the locals. You are on a level they associate with and they open up willingly to a conversation that is mutually informative. Locals value good steeds and your superb horse often serves as an opening subject. They are superb travel options for cultural tours in Spiti and Changthang in Ladakh.
It is an age-old journey with roots in times when horses were the sole means of covering long distances with style and speed. It is also the opportunity for you to focus on your experiences without worrying about being on time, or getting too exerted to observe. This is also an ideal option for families wishing to introduce young children to adventurous journeys, but are concerned about their capacity to keep up with a tour.
Most trekking routes can be done on horses, particularly if they are mentioned as easy. On steep declines, it may be necessary to dismount and navigate that portion on foot to avoid losing balance.
With horse riding trails, it is also good fun to travel along dirt roads in areas where there is not much traffic. These roads are hardly distinguishable from the scenery and horses are definitely more comfortable options on them than vehicles.
The horses we use are some of the best available in the region and all equipment is in good condition and comfortable to both horse and rider.
This is your experience of a rich nomads way of life.
